Exhausted. Luci loves to eat.

I've been so tired lately, I don't have energy to do much online after Luci goes to sleep. I haven't been sleeping well at night for three weeks now. I get in bed between 9-12 at night, then sometimes I'll get back up and surf on the computer, but my brain doesn't have much to write about except the daily mumble jumble so I don't feel like writing about it. I don't want to bore my readers if I have any left. So yeah, I fall asleep sometime between 2:30AM and 4:15AM. Luci wakes up between 7:30AM and 8:30AM.

I've been shopping online TOO MUCH. There is nothing else to do. I'm bored. The play groups here are dirty and icky, I don't want to take Luci to them. Plus, they use bleach on all the toys. WTH?

Luci is walking 100% now, probably since about 10.5 months old. She is fast too. I only see her crawling if it's to get under a table or desk to where Moo is. Poor Moo, Luci follows her everywhere and always wants to play with her. I think part of Moo likes it, because she gets more attention, but part of her gets tired of it too.

I love that Luci is walking, even though it's a little early for her age. It's easier for me and nicer because she can play in the front of the house outside and she won't be getting black knees or clothes from crawling.

Luci knows a few words now, it's probably hard for anyone besides us to understand her, but we do. She says "Yes, yeah, hi, hello, strawberries, please, thank you, daddy, juice (water or anything besides milk/formula), che-che (booby - I don't know where she got that name for it, but she definitely uses it for when she wants comfort booby, which I still give to her once in a while)." She mimics a lot and shakes her head "no", even when she means "yes", she shakes no, but then she switches to nodding up and down when she sees how to say "yes".

For a couple weeks she was going to sleep for naps and bedtime without crying or whining, she would just lay down and watch us leave. Then after my parents were here, she started crying again. She just started going to sleep quietly again a few days ago. I hope it sticks. It's so much more peaceful to see her lay down, instead of making the saddest face possible and "crying". I use quotes because within a few seconds of leaving the room, she usually stops as long as she isn't over tired.

Her favorite thing to eat is fruit and cheese, preferably the single wrapped slices of orange cheese. I give her the block cheese too, but she loves the single ones, probably because they melt in her mouth. She eats strawberries, blueberries, peaches, kiwi, asian pears, cantaloupe, bananas, grapes (peeled so far), mandarin oranges, pineapples, apples, raspberries, blackberries, that's all I can think of right now. I make her grilled cheese sandwiches often and cream cheese topped bread. She licks/eats the top off, then eats some of the bread. She also eats, hard boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, potato sticks (french fries, fried or homemade baked), broccoli, zucchini, peas, and sometimes corn. I try to change it up every week or couple weeks, otherwise she will get tired of things. I still have some trouble trying to think of things for her to eat. She can't eat everything we eat yet, since we eat stuff with a lot of hot spices. She isn't used to all the flavor, but we let her taste most of our food anyway, she just spits it back out.

Luci loves to eat Dutch Baby pancakes. Either Jason or I will make it on a weekend when he isn't working and she eats the same, minus the lemon/sugar/butter syrup. Sometimes she taste our sausage, but most of the time doesn't want it.

I need more ideas for food for her. She is getting bored of my food.

Does anyone know how to cook the grilled teriyaki chicken that a lot of Hawaiian BBQ places serve, it's always so moist and tender. I've made it before. Hmm, I make it, then I freeze or fridgerate it. Then it's hard and dry. I wish I didn't have to cook it fresh every single time. I guess that is the best way though, right? Luci loves the Hawaiian BBQ Chicken, sometimes beef too. She also loves rice.

Someday I will get back into writing on here, daily or at least a couple times a week. I hope I do anyway. I miss writing. I just don't have energy to sit here and write. My back is tired from the daily dishes and being a mommy. I just want to lay in bed and play on my phone a little, zone out without having anything else to worry about. There is always something to get done around the house, always something that needs cleaning, and always something. It never ends. Never.

4 moos:

  1. Sad about playgroups. I've been thinking of ways to meet moms, partly since we've just moved and partly because I will be pretty much a stay-at-home mom this semester. I'm worried! So far I feel like it is really hard when it is just me and Olive. Having another adult around to talk to makes me so much more patient with her. It makes me more content to carry and play with her all day. And if it is someone like my husband or mom, having them around makes me more relaxed too. Anyway, I hear you on the exhaustion, although I'm not sure if it's the exact same thing I am worried about. Related to playgroup though, I'm thinking of checking out story time at the libraries. I read a description of one that welcomed infants too. Have you tried that?

It's interesting to me to hear about food too. I was thinking we would have to make our food pretty bland when Olive starts eating table food!

  2. It's hard to meet moms no matter where you live. Sometimes you can meet other mom's at a park, but with your daughter's age, you'll probably need to find some groups. as soon as luci could sit up on her own, i started taking her to the park and letting her play in the sand. she got dirty, fell over, got a mouth full of sand, but she LOVED it. just depends on if you're okay with her getting dirty. after the park, i would wash her hands and legs, then change her clothes, that way her crib wouldn't get dirty for naps.

  3. I was looking around online, have you heard of this website called Mom's Like Me? It has a website for Local Hawaii Mom's and their specific neighborhoods. Maybe you can check it out. My Sister lives in Mililani so she wouldn't know about groups on Maui. I shortened the URL because it was super long.

  4. Oh, I haven't tried story time at the library because Luci tries to eat every book, type of paper, or anything with fibers in it including baby wipes, tissue, cardboard, etc. I can't wait till she gets over her paper thing. My friend's son is a couple weeks younger than her, he doesn't eat books or paper at all. His books are all nice with corners. Ours are partially missing corners and pieces.

Here is The Indestructibles book, you might want to get one for Olive before she starts teething. There are no words inside the book, since babies can't read. There are lots of pictures and you can make up stories though.

I bought mine on Amazon.com for $4.50 each. I got three, but you really only need one or two. I have two at home and one in the car.
