Broccoli everywhere

Does anyone know how to teach kids to eat neatly? I know it must be possible.

In the Japanese market, this lady peeled a banana and handed it half peeled to her son, then picked him up and carried him while carrying a couple bags of groceries, and walked out. I'm assuming the boy doesn't grab the banana and mash it with his other hand while eating it in between. Nor does he smear it in his hair, ears and on his mom's hair and clothes, like my sweet girl Luci loves to do. If he did, I don't think his mother would just go and hand it over to him like that while out and about. He looked really young, possibly Luci's age or a little older.

Much Needed Haircut
Oh, I cut off all my hair! Well, just ten inches, but it was a lot. I absolutely love it. I feel ten years younger and like a girl again. I knew I needed this type of change. I just haven't had a chance to get it done because I only trust my current hair guy in San Francisco Japantown. I felt like a 50 year old ragged mom with my long, dry, stringy pony tail of hair I had before. I knew it too. I should have cut it away myself until I could get a real cut. Oh well. I'm so happy now. Luci took about 30 seconds to get used to it. I went up to her after my cut and talked to her like normal, she grabbed my mom's leg, but didn't run or cry. Then I pulled my short hair back as though it was a pony tail and she smiled and walked to me with a big hug. Interesting that she didn't recognize me at first.

The BIG ONE!
Luci's big first birthday parties are coming fast. We are having a big traditional Korean party on Saturday, then the American party is on her real birthday, Sunday.

Is there any way to prevent a child from being spoiled when both Grandparents spoil her? We try not to spoil her ourselves too much, but I think we do.
